Safe Exam Browser (SEB) creates a secure, focused environment for your Revision Village assessments. When you use SEB, your computer is locked into the exam only—no other apps, tabs, or distractions. This guide will walk you through the steps to take your assessments using the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) feature.

 

What to Expect with SEB

  • All prohibited applications will have to be closed and your screen will be locked (You won’t be able to open other apps, switch windows or access your desktop. This includes browsers, messaging applications, etc.) You should ensure any work in progress is saved before proceeding.
  • Only the exam is visible – there are no navigation buttons, tabs, or address bars.
  • You cannot print – printing is disabled during the exam.

 

Using SEB for Your Exam

Step 1: Before the Exam

  • Download and install Safe Exam Browser on your device
  • Close all other applications to prevent disruptions when SEB launches
  • Ensure that your computer is plugged in or has sufficient charge for the assessment.

 

Step 2: During the Exam

  • Open the exam link shared by your teacher
  • SEB will launch in full-screen mode and load your Revision Village assessment
  • Click ‘Start Assessment’ to begin
  • During your assessment
    • Only the assessment content is visible
    • You cannot switch to other applications or access your desktop
  • You may exit the Safe Exam Browser at any time, but your assessment will end, and your teacher will be notified of the interruption. If you exit the Safe Exam Browser, you may resume the assessment at the same link you used to begin the assessment.

 

Step 3: Completing the Exam

  • Complete all questions and submit your assessment.
  • Once the assessment has been submitted, a popup will appear with an "Exit Safe Exam Browser" button. Alternatively, you can exit SEB using the 'quit' button in the bottom right corner of your screen.
  • Once you have exited SEB, your main browser window will reappear, allowing you to resume regular use of your device.
